Uvu Spring 2023 Calendar – As students, parents and teachers in the Wasatch County School District look forward to spring break the first week of April. The school board is considering changing spring break for 2020 to align with University spring break.
Wasatch School District spokeswoman Kirsta Albert explained why the school board is considering changes to the 2020 spring break schedule.

“Our number one initiative in terms of student achievement is focused on the academic field. We also have 300 students in high school who are doing distance education with Utah Valley University. What happens is when we have spring break, we end up with 300 students who have to stay while their families go on spring break or lose some of their course work, which is the worst case scenario. The proposal to align our spring break with UVU would allow distance education students to have the same spring break as other students in the district, as their peers. The real benefit is also the additional instructional time after spring break before the final placement test begins. It’s kind of a natural pause between the 3

The schedule is still under consideration and is open for comment until the next Wasatch School Board meeting. Feedback can be sent to the Director of Operations and Human Resources. Shawn Kelly’s email can be sent to [email protected]
“We are grateful for the feedback we have received in the past based on a survey provided to staff and parents of students in the district,” said Albert. “All of that feedback was taken into account when we considered the schedule going forward. That feedback is literally at the root of every decision made. Those are recommendations which we then take to the board of education for their final decision.

If you have a particular preference for meeting a therapist online or in person, please indicate this when prompted when you complete your initial paperwork. If you are meeting with a therapist online, this appointment will be via a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform.
At times throughout the year, the demands of individual therapy students far exceed our capacity. In an effort to use our limited resources as efficiently as possible, we often have to resort to “waiting lists.” Being on a waiting list means you’re standing in line to be assigned to work with an individual therapist. The length of time an individual remains on the waiting list before being contacted to schedule an initial appointment varies based on the availability of our staff. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in a long wait before starting therapy. In addition, once the waiting list is full, students have limited treatment options.
The good news is that we often make available slots available in group therapy. Being in a group has many benefits. Groups are a great place to get feedback from others, try new behaviors, learn and practice assertiveness, and get support. Research has shown that group therapy is just as effective as individual therapy in helping a person achieve their personal therapy goals. Please see the group therapy section on our website below or contact our group coordinators at GroupTherapy@ to learn more about group therapy.
