How much can we really say about Justin Garrett? This guy is a leader on and off the field for the UTEP football team. After his first two seasons with the team, Garrett was a two-time All-C-USA honorable mention (2019 and 2020).
During his three seasons with the Miners, Garrett has 118 receptions, 1,498 receiving yards and nine career touchdowns. Garrett continues to pay tribute to the late Luke Laufenberg throughout the 2021 season. Luke died on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the age of 21. Garrett will wear his No. 2 Laufenberg jersey throughout the season.
As a transfer from Marshall, Breon Hayward burst onto the scene in 2021 as one of the cornerstones of the defense. He has totaled 84 tackles this year, along with 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a rare fumble recovery for a touchdown. Hayward first burst onto the scene for UTEP in 2020 when he had 16 tackles against North Texas.

Hayward could flirt with all-conference honors at the end of the year. He should go down as one of the best pure tacklers UTEP has seen in years.
Dy’vonne Inyang has been promoted from junior high standout to All-Conference USA top safety. He is tough and consistent in pass coverage. This year was his most productive year, as Inyang had 28 solo tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three breakups and two interceptions.
Young started every game in 2020 and finished last year with 32 tackles, two tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. He has missed the last two games due to injury, but Inyang revealed on social media that he will be back for Senior Day on Saturday.

The former Kansas State cornerback left the Big 12 school after making 10 starts in 2019, where he totaled 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups and one interception. Neal Jr. joins the Miners as a 2021 graduate.
This season, Neal Jr. has a total of 17 solo tackles, 26 total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and two pass deflections. He made an immediate impact for the team this year, and despite dealing with minor injuries, Neal Jr. has played in every game for the Miners.
As a product of his hometown, Josh Ortega knows what hard work can do in the program. He went from redshirting in 2016 to playing sparingly in 2017 and then saw significant playing time from 2018 to 2021. He played in 22 games from 2018 to 2019 before getting injured in 2020. He bounced back nicely this year as a key defensive lineman for the team. .
