Students come from all 50 states, and approximately 48% of the student body identifies as minorities. UF is ranked 6th among public universities by US News and World Report. The school offers more than 120 undergraduate degrees. Last year, UF received 53,000 applications and accepted 15,000 students for summer or fall. Six hundred students have been accepted through the UF Innovation Academy, a spring/summer program covering 25 majors in innovation. An additional 3,600 students were enrolled through the UF PaCE program, a hybrid program in which students begin classes online and then complete their degree on campus. Academic performance over a four-year period—including the rigor and courses taken in a student’s high school—remains the most important factor in admissions. In a new initiative, UF students from any major can now earn a certificate in the fundamentals and applications of AI. UF recently opened the Lavender Living Learning Community in the Springs complex, a gender-inclusive residence for LGBTQ+ students. This year, UF added an essay to its application that asks students about meaningful activities. Admissions officers noted that they like a good story that provides insight into the student and how the student contributes to the campus. Students applying to the Honors Program must write two additional essays. Admissions officials reiterated that the essay must be specific to the UF Honors Program and students must not deviate from the topic. Additional Notes: UF does not consider heritage in admissions, does not consider majors, and does not consider AP scores in the admissions process.
Standardized Tests (NOTE: instead of composite scores, FAMU considers subscores as follows): – SAT 26 Math, 27 Reading, 27 Language; ACT: Math 22; 22 Reading, 19 English

To be admitted, students must report high school courses and grades through the Self-Assessed Student Academic Record (SSAR), submit two letters of recommendation, and submit an essay of at least 500 words on a topic of their choice. Overcoming an obstacle or difficulty is a good essay topic according to the admissions representative. Students must apply by November 1, which is the priority deadline for full scholarship consideration. The school offers 50+ degrees in a variety of academic programs, including pharmacy, nursing, journalism, health sciences, engineering, architecture, and business.
