Ucsd’s New Front Door
Hello ERC students, most of you have unexpectedly settled into a new home base in a house or apartment. For all students, virtual interactions replace face-to-face exchanges. No matter how you look at it, it’s an incredible social experience that ECHO can provide you with resources.
The goal of the Human Rights and Migration minor is to encourage students to approach human rights and migration as intellectual and practical questions. Students answer critical questions: What rights do citizens, immigrants and refugees deserve? Where does authority come from political associations such as nation-states or from a universal understanding of humanity? Who is considered eligible for authorization? How do human rights differ from citizenship rights? This program helps prepare students for research and teaching, public policy, working in NGOs that support and monitor human rights, organizations that provide immigration services, government agencies, or the legal profession. The unique research and writing opportunities these children provide will also prepare them well for graduate school. Elective for Mexican Immigrant Field Study Program and AIP 197 Minor B Track.
The ERC Special Minor aims to provide an opportunity for ERC students with a special interest in a geographic region to familiarize themselves with language and academic topics related to the region. This minor overlaps with regional general education requirements in the ERC.
