Ucf Spring 2023 – The UCF Knights will leave the American Athletic Conference and join the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2023.
The rumors can stop swirling. The contracts have been signed. The ink is dry. Everyone can breathe easy.
Ucf Spring 2023
Negotiations between the AAC and UCF, Cincinnati and Houston took months to figure out, but they finally worked out.

“The main thing for the ads, I don’t speak for them, is just trying to give your fans, your student-athletes, your coaches, your key stakeholders, your alumni, everybody in your program some timeline right now. you come in,” UCF athletic director Terry Mohajir said.
The settlement buyout is $18 million per school, a traditional $10 million exit fee, plus an additional $8 million for early exits. This is in line with the $17 million UConn agreed to before leaving the conference in 2020.
What we also know is that the $18 million is to be paid over 14 years from 2023-36. The first $10 million will be paid over two years, with the remaining $8 million over the next twelve years, according to Sam Khan Jr. From The Athletic.

To clarify, there is $18 million that each school must pay to the AAC. The purchase will be paid off in 14 years, sources told @Williams_Justin and me. The initial buyout, unless Houston, Cincinnati and UCF left early ($10 million) was to be paid over 4 years. – Sam Khan Jr. (@skhanjr) June 10, 2022
“I think sometimes you trade time for money,” Mohajir said. “I think the conditions were very fair for both of them.
With this exit agreement, schools don’t have to take the entire hit at once and can mix it into their budgets. American also receives a stream of income for the foreseeable future. They can spread it like they did when the Catholic Sevens went and bought the Big East brand. They can also keep some money for a rainy day to help offset big expenses somewhere. Given that the AAC initially tried to force each school to pay $45 million to leave early, the final timelines are much more palatable.

The timing of UCF’s stadium naming rights deal couldn’t have been better. FBC Mortgage has agreed to pay UCF $19.5 million over ten years to rename the Bounce House “FBC Mortage Stadium” effective July 1. This amount corresponds very well with the AAP exit fee. This keeps UCF from having to dive into the box to get out.
UCF still has to pay to qualify for the Big 12. The UCF Athletic Association will pay $2.5 million. When UCF’s Board of Regents voted to accept the Big 12’s invitation, they also agreed to extend their line of credit to the university, which, if unused, would cover the cash needed for admission.
UCF will also receive a revenue share during its first two years as a member of the Big 12. Even half, the school will greatly increase the amount of money they bring in.
Ucf Knights Football Spring Game Reactions And Analysis
The Big 12 recently announced that they had record revenue of nearly $43 million per school. While that number changes somewhat each year, the Knights can expect between $18 million and $20 million over the first two years, a big increase from the $7.96 million UCF received from the AAC last year. In the third year (2025-26), they will receive their full share. This is at the same time that the Big 12’s new media contract is set to begin.
So 2022-2023 is officially UCF’s swan song in The American before joining the Big 12. If you haven’t, now is a really good time to jump on the UCF bandwagon as what Mohajir calls a new era begins. The UCF Knights have added the Villanova Wildcats to their 2023 football schedule, Villanova announced Friday.
UCF will host Villanova at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando on Saturday, September 16, 2023. The game will mark the second meeting between the two schools.
