If you are still pursuing a degree, your unofficial transcripts must be up to date and include your Fall 2021 grades. Please do not send your official transcripts directly to the admissions office until you have been admitted. Once admitted, your transcripts must be sent directly from your institution to the TAMU Admissions Office at the address below. DO NOT send official transcripts to the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
Texas A&M will also accept electronic transcripts via PARCHMENT, SPEEDE, eScrip-SAFE or the National Clearing House. Transcriptions from other providers will not be accepted. Please send electronic transcripts to [email protected]. If you completed your degree at Texas A&M University, you do not need to submit an official university transcript.
Applicants must submit official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) results. We do not have a minimum GRE cutoff score and do not require a GRE Psychology Subject Test. Official GRE scores must be submitted directly from the Educational Testing Service to Texas A&M University and must be from the test date within five years of the date the application arrives at the Office of Admissions. Considering that it takes 10-15 days after the exam date for the official results to reach the institution, plan your exam date accordingly. For information on test dates and locations, visit the GRE website. Use code 6003 to report your GRE scores to Texas A&M University. ETS offers free monthly GRE virtual events for candidates to hear from test developers and learn about test preparation and test-taking strategies. Visit this ETS website to learn more.

We strongly recommend that all applicants take the GRE regardless of their right to opt-out. Applicants with four (4) or more years of full-time work experience after earning a bachelor’s degree may qualify for a GRE exemption. Relevant practical experience in the form of military experience, etc. can also be considered. In addition to a reliable job, these candidates must also have a strong academic record and proven quantitative skills. For those wishing to apply for a GRE waiver, please email the Program Director ([email protected]) with your resume to indicate your interest and then submit the MS PSYS Waiver Request Form (I-O) GRE. Please note that a GRE waiver application will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Successful applicants for a GRE waiver are not eligible for a competitive merit-based MSIOP scholarship. Application form and supporting documents must be received by January 31st (or January 15th for international applicants).
Optional: other aspects of your experience and interests that may help the admissions committee assess your potential for postgraduate study.

Each candidate who passes the initial admission test will be invited to a structured virtual interview. The candidate will answer at least four questions that will assess the core competencies needed to succeed in the MSIOP program. The interview also gives the selection committee the opportunity to get to know each candidate a little better, as they gain insights that cannot be gained from a written application.

Faculty carefully consider completed application packages (and interview performance) through the holistic admissions review process because all components of the application are important. Holistic admissions also allows strengths in some areas to offset weaknesses in others. Admission to the MSIOP program is based on a candidate’s academic background, test scores, related research and applied experience, and relevant skills and accomplishments that demonstrate potential for excellence.
Please note that meeting program standards does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission to the program is based on a number of factors, including the requirements listed above, the composition of the applicant pool, and size limits of the incoming cohort.
Fall 2023 applications will open on December 20, 2022. The deadline for the complete application package is February 1 for international applicants and February 15 for US applicants. All components of your application, including letters of recommendation, must be on file by this deadline. The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies offers the Avilés-Johnson [Diversity] Scholarship to graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Candidates who wish to be considered for nomination must submit a completed application by January 14 and include justification of their suitability in the application. Please do not ask to nominate yourself for this fellowship as this is determined internally by the program.
