The 2022 MLB regular season is extended, but it’s not too early to start looking forward to next year. Major League Baseball announced the schedule for the 2023 regular season on Wednesday afternoon. On opening day, Thursday, March 30, all 30 teams will be in action. The All-Star Game is scheduled for July 11 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.

Most importantly, 2023 will be a new, more balanced first season. Intermediate matches will no longer change divisions. Each team will play at least one series against other teams starting next season. MLB and the MLB Players Association have agreed to a more balanced roster as part of a new collective bargaining agreement.
“The new balance sheet calls for all 20 clubs to play for at least one series in 2023,” said Chris Marinak, MLB’s chief operations and strategy officer. “This new format creates more consistent rivalry games, especially as clubs compete for postseason titles in the recently expanded wild card bracket. In addition, this fan-friendly format allows fans to watch more opposing games while offering more national exposure to our star players during the game, with a focus on expanding our more exciting team games. “
The new schedule format includes 52 division games (up 76), 64 domestic games (up 66) and 46 group games (up 20). Each team plays a four-game home-and-home series against its geographic rival (eg Mets vs. Yankees, etc.) and a three-game series against the other 14 teams in the other league.
