Spring Makeup 2023 – As a kid, I devoured coverage of every fashion week around the world. When the time came, I spent hours combing through designer looks, looking on the wall for inspiration, and most importantly (and now very important with my position), lusting after the out-of-this-world beautiful looks that were getting better. and better every year. Not much has changed. I still follow Fashion Week like nobody’s business, and I maintain a very extensive Pinterest board of looks scattered throughout the beauty industry.
You might think that there are many creative pieces left in the world of makeup and hair that have yet to be done, but fashion weeks always challenge that idea. I’m always amazed and delighted by the runway looks they create, whether they’re unrealistic for everyday wear or not. To find out what beauty trends are emerging for the upcoming spring/summer season, I’ve rounded up some of the hottest models spotted on the catwalks in every major city, from New York to Paris to Milan. I know you can’t wait to take a look. Think heavily lined, heavy metal lids and a heavy dose of glitter. Keep scrolling for more information, including several products to recreate each look.
Spring Makeup 2023
First, let’s start with the hottest trends in New York. The lined covers were a big hit. I’m not just talking about light covers, they’ve been very dramatic this season. Usually, eyeliner is for the inner corners, outer corners, or along the lash line, right? Well, this time the models used eyeliner instead of or over eyeshadow. It’s definitely a great option that can easily be recreated at home with a hard gel or pencil.

New York’s pastel pastels were also in the limelight, with models wearing rainbow hues both on their lids and all over their faces. It’s definitely bold, but if you’re looking to add more grit to your look, this is totally on trend.
Sparkling facial jewelry was a hit, from sparkly brows to large crown-like hair beads. Facial piercings have also appeared with very bright nose rings in the front and center.
At this time, face jewelry was in vogue in both New York and London. The London runway, however, definitely took it to new times with artistic crystals, bold winged chin accessories and embellished glasses.

I do a little dance every time the record change comes back. Glitter accessories, glitter eyeshadow and of course glitter were also very prominent on the runways in London.
Instead of the chalky, smoky paint we saw in New York, the models in London were all decked out in bright hues on their faces. Hot pink in particular dominated the runway with smoky eyes and magenta eyeshadow darkened around the lids.
Paris has taken winged liner to a whole new level. From chunky black hats to thin crossed eyeliner, there’s something for everyone. You can also wear colored eyeliner for an extra pop of color.

Gold and silver metallic Parisian eye makeup is made for an adventurous and seductive look. Thick gold eyeshadow does the trick, but you can also opt for a lighter, more subtle shade of silver under the browbones, as seen on Elie Saab models.
This favorite trend of the company has become popular in Milan. What can I say, I’m a stardust lover. Pair the shimmery shadow with a subtle shimmer around the eyes for a gorgeous, heavenly look.
Brightly colored lips made a big impression in Milan, with models wearing everything from pastel yellow to two shades of red. I love pairing an electric color like purple with another shade like Barbie pink.

You can never go wrong with bronzed, smoky eyes, and the Milan shows really leaned into that. It looks gorgeous on all skin tones, and can be applied under the lids and browbones, or on the high points of the lids for a subtle glow. Clean skin, painted lips. Paris Fashion Week was full of weird moments (Yeezy SS23 comes to mind) and wonderful moments (Bella splashed her dress, courtesy of Coperni). But for Chanel Spring 2023, social trends were off the menu.
Instead, creative director Virginie Viard stayed true to the house’s traditional codes, presenting a casual collection filled with tweeds, ribbons, embroidery, freeforms and a mostly monochrome color palette (inspired by Alain Resnais).

The beautiful view reflected the same sentiment; A true Chanel woman, without frills or inventions (like Kirsten Stewart’s face and muse). Makeup artist Lisa Butler used shadows from the new Les Tweed collection to model bare eyes, while lips were painted in soft nude (Rouge Allure 195 Mis à Nu) or rich burgundy (Rouge Allure Sensation 204 Sensation). Skins were natural, but extended thanks to the immediate launch of Les Beige Water-Fresh Complexion and expertly applied concealer. The finishing touch was a pink color on the apples of the cheeks, in particular, Joues Contrast 64 Pink Explosion.
Refined yet highly polished, each iteration of the look was what we imagine a Chanel woman to be.
While the hair may have played a supporting role against the collection and makeup, it was still beautiful: soft, shiny, and pulled back into a low ponytail secured with Chanel hair paste. Those with natural texture or short hair wore them naturally, breaking the uniformity and playing with the unique beauty of each model.

Blush application, when you cover the temples and cheeks with bright and beautiful shades of pink or red, became popular in the 70s. Since then, everyone from Rihanna has worn it to Arianna Grande at the 2017 Met Gala last summer. Thanks to Alietta, Christian Cowen and Etro, the beauty trend will continue in 2023.
Memorable Beauty Looks From New York Fashion Week
? This season, at Atlein, Giambattista Valli, Balmain and Dries Van Noten (not to mention Marni, Proenza Schouler and Molly Goddard), dry hair has given way to back buns, wet finger waves and wavy straight manes.
Glitter: This is the perfect mood booster, and this season’s top makeup artists agree. From Peter Do’s shimmery brows to Giorgio Armani’s shimmering metallic lids, a little make-up is always a good idea.
Put your nude eyeshadow palette back in your makeup bag, because spring 2023 is all about bright colors. Purples, greens, oranges, yellows and blues are up for grabs, as well as colorful wings, block shadows and subtle accents. Do it your way! Make sure the finish is matte (Stella Jean, Prabal Gurung, Paul & Joe, and DSquared2) and the color is Day-Glo.

This season’s skin looks like… skin. No heavy coverage, dewy shine or flat matte texture. If we didn’t know better, we’d think that the Erdem, Missoni, Brandon Maxwell and Altuzarra models weren’t painted at all.
Fearless makeup, your face is your canvas and it’s time to let it steal the spotlight. For spring 2023, at shows like Marni, Etro, Stella Jean and Act N°1, bright colors were sprayed on the forehead, browbones and temples, dispelling the belief that bright colors are only for the eyelids, cheeks and lips. “There are no rules,” says this look. And it’s true.
