Spring/summer 2023 Menswear Trends That Will Lead You To Your Tribe
“I missed all these crazy clowns,” said the veteran New York fashion editor on the plane from Paris, pointing to the industry’s iconic figures. Although many may think that the pandemic will slow down the pace of fashion in the long run, this is not the case. Back in full swing, the spring 2023 fashion weeks in New York, Milan and Paris looked as packed as ever with shows, parties and dresses. Exception: London, where many events were canceled in mourning for the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
New York begins with the perfect collaboration between Fendi and Marc Jacobs. The brand’s 1990s and 1920s acid-hued winter capsule collection celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Fendi baguette bag (of original Sex and the City fame). Linda Evangelista joined other mega-models appearing behind the glass, making a rare appearance. It was a difficult task to accomplish. After the pandemic-era shows, the spring 2023 fashion season provided a much-needed boost. Bubble dresses and sparkly costumes ensured that the clothes worn at home were a no-brainer. Welcome to the amazing spring 2023 fashion trends that will be worn over time.
Whatever is coming, knee-length skirts combined with hip fashions have brought a wave of 90s nostalgia. But layers continued to rule the world, with wraps at Erdem and tights at Loewe. Of course, signature spring fabrics from Carolina Herrera and Ulla Johnson were in the mix from head to toe. Find a full look ahead and shop!
The Biggest Spring/summer 2023 Trends For Men
There’s something sweet and whimsical about a knee-length skirt. A modest skirt that hangs at your hips and exposes your knees as you move forward is chic enough for work but wearable. After the reign of the micro miniskirt, there is a level of tasteful restraint that feels even more appealing.
Minimalists, good news: your beloved neutrals are getting a chic update. Coats, blazers, dresses and suits came down the runway in droves in an abundance of loud, high notes. Heavy hitters like Fendi, Khaite and Altuzarra are making a big case for it, promising to grace magazine covers and red carpets in the coming months.
It travels through the seasons and keeps up with the reopening of denim retailers. This time, it’s open where it needs to be – less about revealing risqué body parts and adding dimension to the look. We’ve seen knee-length skirts (in line with Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection) and flares on Erdem and Armani dresses for added dimension.
Spring/summer 2023 Trend Report
Next, our editors can’t stop talking about the spring 2023 fashion trend: foam. From ball sleeves to bubble skirts and leggings, round-bottomed silhouettes shined at Ulla, Prada and Proenza. It’s worth noting: there are various pieces of bubblegum, from the barely there (Stella McCartney’s number) to the heavy (McQueen’s parachute skirt). No matter which side you root for, you’re sure to steal the show in the next race.
And last but not least: a mug. The trend, which has seen her strut her stuff in silk fascinators at Paco Rabanne and dazzle head-to-toe in Chanel, is taking on an edgier trend and bringing more shopping and adornment. When it comes to color, anything goes – stick to neutrals or go for a bold color. Cerulean appeared in Proenza and Jason Wu also wore lilac.
It took us a while to warm to the corset trend with Gen Z, but fashion heavyweights are releasing iterations of the style that shine. Our favorite? Dion Lee’s version that gives the corset a useful twist and pairs it with cargo pants. The brand is primarily known for its highly fashionable crossover silhouette.
Spring 2023 Jacket Trends: Moto, Military Inspired & More
Wear it: Style it with a minimalist midi skirt to avoid the corset (see our fashion editor’s version here) — or for the Y2K fan, go straight for low-cut pants.
In terms of cargo, this season saw pants, vests and tops with loose pockets at Miu Miu, Sakai (looks right) and Tibi. However, the Fendi FF pocket cargo pants are catching the attention of the entire fashion community, with a nod to the brand’s iconic bag. We get a pair in every color.
Wear it with: jeans if you opt for a cargo jacket, or a cozy knit if you opt for a cargo jacket. The spring/summer 2023 collections contained many colors and color combinations. Inspiration continues to come from the natural and virtual world. Here are four of the best colors seen on the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

The world of fashion cannot be celebrated for its permanence – pseudo or microtrend, anyone? – but no one can blame her for a lack of originality.
The 6 Fashion Trends Of Spring 2023 To Know And Shop
War, financial crises, attacks on women’s rights around the world – the last fashion month was a fitting tribute to the industry’s most respected exhibits. It was a month of fashion wrapped in real clothes – mostly fashion – made for real people and real life with nothing but squeals and cheek slaps.
On board were dictates from the seas of the fashion world to reconnect with nature: Samsøe Samsøe’s show in Copenhagen was called Gone Fishing; In New York, Maryam Nassir Zadeh began her press release with the word “waves”—a nod to more than just beach waves; And in London, Riccardo Tisci drew inspiration from the English coast for what turned out to be Burberry’s latest collection. There are as many sources of inspiration as Mother Nature herself, and few sources of renewal, but as an industry that cannot push boundaries and expectations, these trends reflect the world we live in today: not unknown, but creating new frontiers every day.
Perhaps in an attempt to make us all a little more compassionate, designers used their Spring/Summer 2023 collections to encourage us to wear our hearts on our sleeves – sometimes literally. At Acne Studios, hearts were sewn into the fabric of a blood-red dress; For Nancy Dojak, the hottest star of London style, glittering and unforgettable hearts are sewn into the neck of the dress; In Milan for Sportmax, hearts decorated long-sleeve sparkly fields.
Spring 2023 Fashion Trend: Cargo Pockets And Glam Utility
Just as 2022 will be the year of the butterfly (in clothes, hair, etc.), next year will be the year of the heart—something we all care about. When in doubt, wear a sleeve.
