Students are allowed 15-minute visits in 206 sessions where counselors can provide advice.
Tips For The Spring 2023 Involvement Fair
The next step is to dress professionally for your interview or job. While there are no walls or rooms, you should treat each booth like a potential boss and interviewer. So, you should prepare your interview skills and what to say. To schedule trial interviews, contact Daly at [email protected] or call 215-881-7967. Afterwards, students will get feedback on what to improve, what went well, and what to expect from the actual interview. Daly highly recommended Research Firm before participating.
Another important step in preparing for a job fair is practicing the 30-second intro. A well-crafted introduction gives the presenter and interviewer a brief overview of who you are and why you are visiting their booth. First impressions are also very important which is why this is a highly recommended job by the CPD office. CPD recommends Thebalancemoney.com for tips on doing a 30 second intro.
A current PSU student, who is working in CPD and has attended previous job fairs, said: “While the job fair may seem daunting, remember that employers are there to recruit talent like you! I see the fair as a meet-and-greet session between Penn State employers and talent. I like to think. As you approach the employer’s desk, take a breath, relax, and be positive. Remember to be confident in yourself and authentic! First impressions leave a lasting impression, so it’s important to use a 30-second elevator pitch so you can describe your skills and personality. .When I went to a job fair, I was nervous. I couldn’t imagine having a confident conversation with employers. There were so many people around the tables, how could I not get confused? To ease my anxiety, I made a list of talking points sion for all the organizations I wanted to meet with. This allowed me to feel prepared and less stressed Last semester At another job fair, I met a recruiter who allowed me to conduct an informational interview with them to find out more about the their profession. I not only had a professional contact, but also a mentor! “
