Prada Spring 2023 – The latest collection from Miuccio Prado and Raf Simons explores the space between minimalism and decoration with clean silhouettes and transparent materials.
The collection begins with slightly cropped bodysuits made from poplin shirts in industrial colors such as gray and ivory. We wear them under angular jackets and longer opera coats, finally loose dresses made of raw silk and pretty lace details, evoking a nightgown.

The silhouette was simple. The dress hugs the body, casually like a towel after a shower. Transparent fabric overcoats gave the impression of lightness. Naive floral patches decorate handbags and jackets, sometimes holding the end of the fabric in place.
Even with feminine touches, the collection underlined androgyny, especially in the look of Prada uniforms: overalls, slim trousers and jackets. Shoes were Mary Janes or moccasins with turned up toes. Bags for the season included a Prada inverted triangle handbag and a large shopper in contrasting pink or lime.
”More than any other collection, this one is full of different views. The collection is a mirror of cinematography, a witness to fragments of a larger whole,” said Simons.

Hunter Schafer also attended in a black turtleneck with a silk miniskirt, a long pink and white gingham shirt, and a beige trench coat. Meanwhile, Michaela Coel donned a sheer metallic overlay over a white logo tank dress and a brown boxy oversized leather jacket.
The creative collaboration between Miuccio Prado and Raf Simons resulted in another eye-catching collection called “Touch of Crude”. Models walked the brown-carpeted runway to the beat of sci-fi music with eccentrically shaped faces with long eyelashes that seemed to obscure their view. The self-referential show opened with a tailored dark gray ensemble, consisting of a long coat layered over a button-down shirt and skinny trousers. The show explored the themes of workwear and home life, borrowing elements from previous collections and presenting them in the ugly-chic fashion that Prada excels at. For example, a series of dark and colorful dyes seemed to ooze from strapless column dresses, strapless dresses and skirts, as if the designers had deliberately decided to make them look unfinished. Likewise, a range of knitted sets with raw edges and gathered accessories extended this sentiment.

Elsewhere, Miuccia’s pure avant-garde experience resurfaced from the Fall 2022 collection in the form of skirts, vintage-look nightgowns, turtlenecks and coats. And Simons’ historical penchant for leather was reflected in the pointed jacket sets, which also incorporated heritage Prada.
