Notre Dame Spring Break 2023 – The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are adding the Tennessee State Tigers to their 2023 football schedule, the school announced Tuesday.
Notre Dame will host Tennessee State on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind. The game will be broadcast live on NBC.
Notre Dame Spring Break 2023
“We are excited to bring together in 2023 a pair of great educational institutions steeped in tradition,” said James E. Rohr Jack Swarbrick, Notre Dame Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Doctor. Without the vision of (Mickey) Allen and Coach (Eddie) George we would not have been able to achieve what this sport can represent for our university. I am glad that we were able to bring the Tigers and the Irish together in one weekend that will feature an event with over 20 combined national titles, Aristocrats of Bands and Bands of the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame and TSU have once established themselves on the gridiron. This contest will also mark the Fighting Irish’s first contest against a historically black college or university (HBCU). Tennessee State is currently a member of the FCS Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
With the addition of Tennessee State, Notre Dame has completed its football schedule for the 2023 season. It will seal its 2023 campaign by traveling to Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 26 to face Irish Navy. Central Michigan (Sept. 16), Ohio State (Sept. 23), USC (Oct. 14), and games at Stanford (Nov. 25) will comprise the non-ACC portion of Notre Dame’s slate.
During the ACC portion of the docket, Notre Dame will host Wake Forest and Pitt and travel to Clemson, Duke, Louisville and NC State. Every spring football game includes an unexpected star. The question then becomes, is this just a moment of glory exhibition or something sustainable that can lead to the next contributor to Notre Dame’s downfall?
Notre Dame Spring Practice Highlights
Of the two early-rejected freshmen who shone in the Blue-Gold game there, it is likely to be something one of them.
Quarterback Steve Angeli will never rise above No. He had to put his dreams of 2022 on hold, but his last-minute save to win the game 13-10 for the Golden team gave him at least some confidence that Angeli is the Notre Dame quarterback of the future. Will not play competition. Safe in the class of 2023.
Meanwhile, running back Jedrian Price will have a chance, regardless of the other backfield options. That much should have been clear as soon as Golden State coach and running backs coach DeLand McCullough drafted Price ahead of junior running back Chris Tyree.

“I showed him in the draft what his thoughts were for him,” McCullough said. “We had a chance to do some different things (in the draft). I thought JD did a good job in the spring, wanted to see how he would respond to being the main guy. He did a good job.”
Price finished with 12 yards on nine rushes, hardly impressive, but also added 104 yards on eight receptions, including a 51-yard touchdown run on the last screen pass from none other than Angeli. Junior safety Ramon Henderson had to have the width to force Price out of bounds, but Price’s top speed proved too fast.

“I’m very confident,” he said. “Some of the things I did in Spring Ball caught people’s attention. I’m glad to have support behind me, keep pushing me along the way.
It takes some practice for Price to know he can handle the game at this level, but full contact by Marist senior linebacker Liufou drove home the reality to Price.
“The first part of my college football experience was when Marist had a practice. It really prepared me, it was real.

There will certainly be another “welcome” moment for Price in the fall, whether at Ohio State in 130 days or against BYU on October 8 in Las Vegas. The timing at the moment is vague because it is difficult to predict when the fourth string will be needed. And no matter how good Price looks there, he remains fourth on the depth chart.
Tyree and sophomore Logan Diggs can debate who holds the top position, but Price overlaps too much with the skill set to play man more than Audrick Esteem. The latter’s strength adds an important aspect to the group, guaranteeing him a spot in the rotation despite his impressive price tag.
But the entire backfield should set Notre Dame up for a dominant running game in 2022. Having Price as the fourth back underscores that possibility.
Notre Dame’s 2023 Recruiting Off To Strong Start With Eight 4 Stars
“If you can play early, you’ll find out early,” head coach Marcus Freeman said Saturday. “We looked at it with him. He knows the big picture, he has the playbook. The transition is not too big for him.
In his assistant coaching aspirations, Freeman did some work, naming McCullough and defensive line coach Al Washington as head scrimmage coaches. The most obvious, discussed after Wednesday’s draft, is that Freeman gave two black assistant coaches a chance to be the face of the program.
But they also gave him the opportunity to live out his dreams. McCullough, in particular, chose to remain at Notre Dame despite an NFL offer after an initial decision to join Freeman’s staff because he wanted to become a college head coach. As many assistant coaches can attest over the years — former defensive line coach Mike Alston comes to mind — sometimes you can’t be a head coach without head coaching experience, a frustrating Catch-22 that has led to several retreads throughout the game. to the High.

So for the better part of a week, Freeman gave McCullough and Washington a taste of what it’s like to be a head coach.
“I took it big time,” McCullough said. “It’s one of the things – it’s just the spring game, I know – but it’s one of the main goals. This and a few other reasons [Freeman] has a good chance to get into a leadership position. command the room, get people on the same page, put together plan.

Notre Dame Cherry Blossoms In Paris
Perhaps the “apocalypse” is a bit harsh in the concerns of Jack Swarbrick’s doomsday, but the director of Notre Dame athletics Jack Swarbrick painted a very pessimistic view of the future of college athletics in an interview with Sports Illustrated published over the weekend. Most importantly, Swarbrick outlines a timeline for college athletics that splits into two groups over the next 10-15 years, one group still involved in academics and one group only involved in corporate branding. .
Swarbrick certainly knows the landscape of college athletics better than anyone here, but the idea is to predict what the future holds.

Liufau’s Positivity Earns His Peers Respect
No coach is going to criticize the recruits he signed on National Signing Day, obviously, but what he chooses to praise can provide insight into each new prospect. When Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman repeatedly pointed to a pair of defensive end signees, the speed of one cornerback signee and the mindset of the other, it spoke volumes about the two traits needed to join the roster. And Freeman and the coaching staff are talking looking for recruiting marks.
