Iowa Spring Break 2023 – Des Moines Spring Break 2023 is just around the corner. Des Moines has several classes, workshops and events that can be held virtually or in person. If you want to fill your school holidays with fun activities, check out the great list below and register quickly. They can fill up very quickly. If I miss your class or workshop, please let us know. We will update this page regularly.
Winged things: flying in the wind, flying around a flower or walking silently at night, winged things are very cool. Let’s “fly” in the zoo and see who has wings and who doesn’t. Don’t let the animals fool you… not all wings are made to fly!
Iowa Spring Break 2023
Spring Safari Camp is a three-day camp for children ages 5-9. During this camp, children will participate in hands-on learning activities, enjoy the outdoors, meet animal ambassadors and explore the zoo. Learn more and register at the Blank Park Zoo website.

School Calendar Will Offer Three Day Spring Break
Celebrate Children’s Day to the max at the Des Moines Center for the Arts! Art is one of humanity’s oldest tools. The art we create says a lot about who we are, how we live, think and feel. Explore the past, present and future of art through free hands-on and creative activities for all ages.
Explore history in the galleries, create your own art inspired by today’s artists, and imagine the future of art with Des Moines artists Rachel Busse, Cameron Gray, and Eric Wilkes. Children’s Day will feature live music hits from decades past by Keep Moving Dance Group of Ames, Iowa.
Join the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden as you get up close and personal with its most famous inhabitants—cacti and succulents—and discover the wild secrets of desert life. Bring your curiosity, adventurous spirit and water bottle as you visit the driest biome on Earth without leaving your garden. Be sure to sign up before all spots are gone! For students from first to fifth grade.

Can’t wait for summer to go back to camp? Join Jester Park Equestrian for an afternoon of riding and equestrian education. Each day will include activities and education for the age groups listed below. All spring break camps are open from noon to 3 p.m. Be sure to get a seat before they fill up!

College Spring Break Vacation Dates 2023
Meet the resident spider, turtle or snake at Jester Park Nature Center to learn about these unique animals. Find out about the importance of animal ambassadors and their special role in education. See them up close and live, see how they move and touch these extraordinary creatures. Drop in and out anytime between 1-2:30. No registration required.
Spend part of your spring break learning new outdoor skills. Polk County naturalists will discuss instruction, safety and technique before giving participants hands-on experience. Sign up for a single class or the entire series, no prior experience necessary. All classes are beginner level. All equipment and meals provided. Bring a full water bottle, wear old clothes and sturdy shoes. You need to register. $10 per class.
Gather your friends and family for a night of fun at Jester Park Outdoor Recreation and Recreation Center. There will be a block game (from 4 years) and archery (from 10 years). There will be a variety of games available and you can even pick up some of the games that suit your family. Light snacks are provided. Come and go as you please. You need to register.
