On Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia Tech athletic department and football program announced a few changes to future schedules. One of them is a minor date change and the other is the addition of a new competitor.

The first change to note is a simple date change, the Yellow Jackets’ game against the Northern Illinois Huskies will serve as their 2021 season opener after originally being scheduled for late September. This will be the first matchup between the two programs. Georgia Tech’s entire 2021 schedule is complete as it faces Georgia, Kennesaw State, Northern Illinois and Notre Dame in conference play.

In 2023, the Yellow Jackets will now welcome the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Bowling Green Falcons to the Flats on September 30th. The Yellow Jackets have only played the Falcons once before, two seasons ago when the Jackets beat Bowling Green 63-17.

With the addition of Bowling Green to the roster, the Yellow Jackets have room for one more non-conference game in the 2023 season, most likely with an FCS program. The Yellow Jackets are currently scheduled to play at Bowling Green and Ole Miss, Georgia, scheduled for that season. Ole Miss has the only away game of the three scheduled earlier.

The 2021 and 2023 seasons are still a long way off, and first the Yellow Jackets must prepare for the 2020 season. The Jackets will begin spring practices in the coming weeks ahead of their spring game on Friday, April 10. The Jackets are expected to be much improved in 2020, but Jeff Collins’ program has a lot of work to do this spring and summer if those improvements are to be made. The Georgia Tech Startup Launch, the institute’s startup accelerator, hit a new milestone in its ninth iteration. More than 100 teams, including 16 faculty teams coached by VentureLab, will launch their projects over the summer from the concept stage (or beyond) to fully functioning, viable startups.
