It’s no secret that Florida is one of the most popular destinations for spring break. Fragrant beaches, sunny blue skies and exciting cities like Tallahassee draw visitors every year. Spring break isn’t just for college kids. While students plan to visit with friends or visit home, college towns like Tallahassee are left with locals and those who want to stay on campus. On the bright side, this means Tallahassee is a little less crowded – which can be more pleasant for those staying on break.

No Spring Break 2021 For Florida Universities
Are you stuck around campus this spring break? Not to worry, there are tons of activities at Tallahassee colleges. Check out our list of FSU and FAMU sporting events taking place this spring break to get you in the school spirit:
FSU Spring Football Game / Doak After Dark – Every year, FSU’s spring football game features a free concert. Doak After Dark is a beloved Noles tradition, with past performances by stars like Chris Janson, Vanilla Ice and T-Pine! Anyone with a valid game day ticket will have access to the show at Doak Campbell Stadium. You and your friends can get “up close and personal” with a field pass – access the field after the game. Are you ready for Doak After Dark?
The annual In the Woods 30A 50K is back in North Florida, so it’s time to stretch those legs for a big run this spring – a 50K to be exact. The event is hosted by The Rotorhead 30A Running Company, an organization founded in 2019 with the aim of building community through fun events. The 50K starts at the Grayton Beach State Park Trailhead, and runners can go solo or have up to two “running buddies” to participate in the running relay. Registration for the tournament comes with entertainment “swag” along with free snacks and drinks. Prizes will be awarded to the top winners. Registration can be done online here and closes on February 24th
Florida State Golden Girls
In the Woods 30A 50K is a trail run that means runners run along rocks, ledges, mud and sand. Dress appropriately!
Part of the Tallahassee Spring Festival includes an annual 10K race, right downtown! Runners can choose between a mile, 5K or 10K, meaning all ages and abilities are welcome. Races begin on Suwannee Street next to Cascades Park, where the one-mile race begins at 7:30. and both the 5K and 10K start at 8 a.m. The race passes famous landmarks like Meyer Park and the Capital Golf Club Course, so you can call it a race with a view! Registration will begin on April 1 at 6:30
, complete with race day package. Come represent the Gulf Winds Track Club and the Tallahassee running community this spring.
When Is College Spring Break?
Streets will be closed for the race, so parking is only allowed in parking garages or limited nearby street parking. Participants are encouraged to arrive early for parking.
If your ideal break involves learning something new, Tallahassee Community College has some interesting courses this spring. The Grow Plants for Fun and Profit course is a practical guide to turning your love of plants into a business! For just $119, you’ll begin a six-week course to learn how to sell plants on a small scale, produce quality materials, and market your products. Students can choose to be guided by the teacher or at their own pace. The course technically starts after their spring break, but we still think it’s a great way to spend your spring break!
Become a member of your local community garden club this spring! The Garden Club of Tallahassee has been around for almost 100 years, with ongoing projects in support of youth gardens at Leon County School District, Hope Community and Live Oak Park. The club has more than 500 members, including groups of local plant growers, designers, ecologists, etc. They also have a plant swap every third Thursday of the month! So what are you waiting for? Put on some gardening gloves and start growing with the Tallahassee Garden Club!

Witness American country music powerhouse Willie Nelson and the rest of his band at the Capital Amphitheater. As a working musician for seven decades, Nelson has received almost every accolade imaginable. It doesn’t look like she’s slowing down anytime soon! Willie Nelson is still very much in his artistic groove, having just released his latest album, Family. You can experience it at his spring concert in Tallahassee. Ticket prices start at $45.
If you’re a rock fan, you won’t want to miss this spring concert! The month of March hosts an evening with Get the Led Out. The night features a spectacular show that recreates and celebrates the sounds of Led Zeppelin. 18+ event or children aged 13 to 17 are allowed with adult supervision. General admission tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online.
Florida State University Schools Seminoles
Director of the group Lisa M. Foltz presents the annual spring concert at Tallahassee Community College. Family and friends are welcome to attend in Turner Auditorium, located on the TCC campus. Treat your ears to an evening of live jazz, rock, swing tunes and classic band performances. The best part? The concert is absolutely free!
Spring break wouldn’t be complete without Panama City Beach. Considered the “Spring Break Capital of the World,” Panama City Beach is the #1 destination for students to celebrate Spring Break! Just over 2 hours from Tallahassee, our college kids definitely want to take a trip to the beach. Relax on 27 miles of white sandy beaches or enjoy a night out with its amazing events.

Center For Civic Engagement And Service Learning
Just outside of Panama City Beach is St. Andrew’s State Park. There are a TON of fun things to do in the 1,200-acre park: bike the 2-mile paved trail, take a boat ride, swim along the mile-and-a-half-long beaches, and even camp overnight. ! Entry fee is $8 per vehicle. If you’re looking to get out into nature this spring break, St. Andrew’s State Park is a great outdoor escape.
Just over two hours from Tallahassee is Grayton Beach State Park, known as “A Nationally-Rated Natural Wonder with Something for Everyone!” it is known. For a fee of $5, guests can enjoy amenities such as the pristine beach, Western Lagoon, and nature trails. Go hiking, kayaking or bird watching to fully experience the natural beauty of North Florida. Bring the whole family and spend the night in one of their beautiful cabins!
One of Tallahassee’s biggest annual events is back this spring! The Tallahassee Spring Music Festival is a weekend community event. The party is at Kelman Plaza, where the beer garden opens at 5:30 p.m., followed by live music starting at 6 p.m. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Magazine With so much praise, how could you not want to participate? Florida’s LeMoyne Center for the Arts is hosting the premiere outdoor fine arts festival at Chain of Parks. The art festival features over 150 artists from across the United States exhibiting paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and even chalk art! Live entertainment will take place on the main stage, located in the Calhoun Court Center. Are the children with you?
