Ecu Spring 2023 Calendar – The school announced Saturday that it will replace the September game at East Carolina along with its decision to drop scheduled games with the Pirates in 2023 and 2025.
Virginia Tech did not specify who will replace the ECU game next fall, only that the game will be played at home.

The decision comes three months after the Pirates decided not to play at Virginia Tech due to travel safety concerns as Hurricane Florence approached Carolina.

New ECU athletic director Jon Gilbert said in a statement that Virginia Tech notified the school Friday, calling the decision “disappointing.”
ECU Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert issued a statement on the state of the ECU-Virginia Tech football series:
“We received a message from Virginia Tech late Friday night regarding the future of our football franchise and were informed that, contrary to our existing agreements, the 2019, 2023 and 2025 seasons will not be played in Greenville.”
