Wayfair is seeking analytical and action oriented candidates for a Data Science and Machine Learning Engineer Intern opportunity starting June 2023. The Data Science and Machine Learning team builds the algorithmic systems that drive our business. With 9 comprehensive workflows (prospecting, pricing, personalization and recommendations, merchandising, marketing, measurement, B2B, computer vision and operations) and more than 20 dedicated sub-teams, the team works on projects that directly impact customers on a large scale. . Our internship program is a 10-week full-time position that will give you the opportunity to explore key Wayfair business challenges, develop cutting-edge solutions, and take them to production. You will work with a great mentor who will help you from defining the problem, planning the path to take the product to finding potential solutions, and publishing your work to a key AI / ML / DS team.

We work closely with stakeholders across the business to build scalable ML solutions and algorithmic platforms to drive revenue, improve customer experience and improve customer loyalty. Our team-driven projects are driven from the ground up – we’re looking for entrepreneurial individuals who want to take ownership of their own agenda and thrive in a collaborative team environment. For example (1) developing new machine learning models to identify latent customer preferences so that the best products can be highlighted to customers in real-time, (2) improving profitability and business strategies by accurately predicting future demand, costs and margins; Assess the long-term impact of short-term actions on customer behavior through experiments or (3) build a machine learning solution to detect duplicate products among the millions of products in our catalog and scale the solution to handle new product uploads in real time by stakeholders. Data is central to everything we do and there’s very little our data science and machine learning teams at Wayfair haven’t touched. He works with diverse teams across the business to develop and scale new solutions to business problems through machine learning. With our in-house A/B testing platform and rolling code deployment, our team can quickly and clearly see the impact we’re having on the organization and the mechanisms we develop will directly impact the customer experience.

Our Summer Internship Program is a full-time ten-week paid program in our Boston – Copley office for 10 weeks June-August. All Boston-based internships, co-ops and corporate staff will be in a hybrid capacity office. Employees will work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and work remotely the other 2 days of the week. Eligibility: This scholarship-supported summer internship is open to an undergraduate or minor in the CAS Humanities or one of the following CAS Humanities fields/programs in the Social Sciences: American & New England Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology, African American Studies, Curriculum Core, History, Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Studies, Latin American Studies, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Students from any class are welcome to apply, but the standard of application will be the same, with preference given to students who are most advanced in their degree. Graduates are eligible to apply.
