Aba Winter Institute 2023 – The Rain Institute held last week in Washington, D.C. was the highlight of the ABA’s five educational events last year. More than 500 seasoned booksellers left the three-day program bringing with them many practical ideas for improving their business; the strength of many opportunities to connect with friends from all over the country; We look forward to the topics that publishers and authors share at this event.

Parliament Day was a special event for Chris Kleindienst, who has teamed up with Left Bank Publications in St. Lewis, Missouri. “I felt really engaged and connected to the larger fabric of American business and culture by taking our issues to a national forum,” said Kleindienst.

“The highlight of Wi6 for me was the feeling of collaboration at the conference,” said Jennifer A. One of the best things I took away from not just one course, but many courses, was the importance of community—between booksellers and businesses in our neighborhoods and beyond—in growth innovation and progress.”
Left Bank’s Kleindienst said he and his partner, Jarek Steele, have “a lot to sort out”. In particular, Buy and Use Your Way to Success gave them “important practical financial and organizational concepts” that they want to implement in their stores. One practical piece of advice, the couple left out a lesson: “Use [the QR] code enabled by the store’s speaker,” so customers can scan the QR code with their smartphone and head straight to Left Bank’s IndieCommerce site.
